So, I've decided to paint my bathroom. It is by far the smallest room in my house (as you can see) and possibly the smallest in the world! I am inspired by Style at Homes' Colour Picks for 2011.
They offer earthly hues, with pops of colour!! I invite you to join me as we explore 2011's Top Colour Picks...and my bathroom!
#1 Lime Green
This colour is youthful, vibrant, and just down right fun!!
This colour would be great in a kids' room or play room.
There are variations of this colour as you look closely at a lime, my favourite is found in the inners
of the lime...a more 'muted' version. Pair this colour with white woodwork and white trimming for a 'crisp' look. Accessories and accent colours you might use: Dark Teal, hot pink, or lemon yellow (all made top 2011 colour picks!) This colour can also be a great accessory colour on it own!!

#2 Smoke
This colour can be found on the blue side of the colour wheel.
A very restful colour with a spa-like feel. Soft blue colours can often be found in bedrooms or bathrooms, but can be used almost anywhere really. Try this colour combined with a contrasting charcoal grey! Be daring!! Paint a ceiling in this dark colour, you will be amazed!! Alternatively, bohemian brown, soft grey, or sand would also be great choices.
#3 Fern Green
This colour is surely to lift your spirits! This saturated hue speaks tropical oasis!!
This moss like colour would go great with crisp white accents. Also try combining this green with
sand or a creamy neutral...you're sure to find your home oasis!!
#4 Soft Grey
Grey will play a huge role in colour direction this year.
This colour is modern and gives a relaxed feel to a room.
Try this colour in a hallway or on accent doors...tres chic!!
Match this colour with soft lemon yellow, smoke, or hot pink!! It will be sure to stand out!!
#5 Lemon Yellow
This sunny colour says 'Happiness'!!
But use it sparingly, this colour is intense!
Use as an accent colour for pillows, focal wall, drapery, flowers, vases, you name it...
I personally love this colour paired with greys or whites.
#6 Hot Pink
And the 2011 Colour of the year goes to.................Honeysuckle Pink!!
This is another intense colour, so use wisely!
This colour goes great with greys or neutrals (I love bohemian brown as an idea)
giving this colour a statement!!
For a cheery space that screams exotic, choose other cheery colours like lemon yellow, lime green, and pale pink...I love this colour!
#7 Dark Teal
This colour is masculine! Its' rich green-blue hue is great for entertaining spaces.
Also use this colour on accent walls to give the room a contemporary feel.
This colour would go great with neutrals: Grey's, White's, and Sand.
For a bohemian feel, use it with a lime green and white with pops of orange....very striking!!!
#8 Bohemian Brown
This clay like colour is a great neutral background to allow accents to shine!!
Pair this colour with great patterns and contrasting accents to achieve its ultimate potential!
Because this is a neutral, your possibilities for accents are endless!!
Pick a colour you absolutely love and run with it!! You really can't go wrong.
#9 Sand
Sand and stone are the inspirations for this hot colour!
This colour reminds us of being outside. It is a neutral colour that calms and soothes.
Accent colours for sand: smoke, fern green, and white.
And that's it!!
I hope I have inspired you to pick up a paint brush and roller and be daring!!!
Try pushing your boundaries!! What do you have to lose??
You never know, it just might be amazing!
Stay tuned for my bathroom update before and after...
One of these colours will be on my walls!!
I Look forward to any comments or suggestions on colour choices??
Thanks for reading....
